Report Templates

The Report Templates window is opened by the Templates button in the Select Report window.

The actual caption of the window will be either Chord Book Templates, Relations Templates, or Scale Chart Templates, depending on the report type in the Select Report window.

It allows you to select a new template file, or save changes to the current template, before printing a report.

Report Templates are normally stored in a special folder within the ChordWizard Program Files area.

You can store individual templates in a different folder or you can change the templates folder with the Folders window.

Each report type can be independently attached to a different template file, and each template file is for a particular report type.

Controls

Current Template

This dropdown list contains all the templates in the templates folder that are available for the specified report type. Templates for other report types will not appear in the list.

The selected item in the dropdown list is the template that is currently attached to the report type.

If any changes have been made to the Report Options for the report type since you opened the template, the text Status: Options Changed will appear in the area below it. Otherwise this area will be blank.

You can switch between templates simply by changing the selected item in the list. If the report options have changed since you opened the current template, you will be prompted to save changes.

Once you have switched a report type to a different template, it will stay attached to the new template until you change it again later.

Save

Saves to the current template any changes you have made to the report options since you opened it.

If no changes have been made, this button is disabled.

Save As

Saves the current set of report options as a new template file in the templates folder or in any other folder.

Open

Opens a different template file. If the report options have changed since you opened the current template, you will be prompted to save changes.

This function is similar to changing the Current Template dropdown list, but it allows you to open template files not stored in the templates folder.

It also allows you to open templates designed for a different report type. In this case, you will be prompted for confirmation, and ChordWizard will convert the settings in it to the current report type.

Note that complete conversions between report types are not always possible. For example Relations report templates do not contain the diagram settings which are needed for Chord Book and Scale Chart reports.

Once you have opened a different template for a report type, it will stay attached to the report type until you change it again later.

Closes the Report Template window and returns to the Select Report window.
